A Glint of Gold

A Glint of Gold

This year’s end-of-year play, “A Glint of Gold” was an imaginative retelling of the discovery of Tutenkhamun’s tomb by Howard Carter and his sponsor Lord Carnarvon, in which the hieroglyphs on the walls of the tomb came to life and educated the explorers about aspects of Ancient Egyptian life. The play also featured the boy King Tut himself as well as another pharaoh, Hatshepsut and an Elvis-impersonating god Osiris, along with Anubis. While most of the main speaking roles were performed by Key Stage 2 children, the whole school was involved and several children from Key Stage 1 performed wonderful solos in their song about ‘The Egyptian Pyramid’.

The performance was followed by the school’s annual prize giving and farewells to the Year 6 leavers, who presented the school with all they would need to build a fantastic reading den, as designed by the children on World Book Day earlier in the year.
