Bicton Park Trip

Bicton Park Trip

Class 1 joined with the other EYFS and KS1 children from across the Jubilee Federation for a trip to Bicton Botanical Gardens. The purpose of the visit was to provide an inspirational start to their topic ‘Global Gardens’. During the day the children were given the opportunity to visit the Palm house where they made sketches of the huge, hairy palm trees. They also visited the Arid house and were amazed by the incredibly prickly cacti. During a workshop the children were able to take some plants apart and explore their parts close up as well as plant their own sunflower seeds. They discussed what plants need in order to grow and stay healthy and talked about what plants can be used for. Finally they took a trip on the train around the park to admire all the beautiful spring flowers.
