Car Share Challenge

Car Sharing DVD

Devon County Council’s Sustainable School Travel Team have produced a DVD to promote car sharing. Branscombe School features within the DVD with these sections.
In the summer of 2008 we made a pledge at the Travel Wise Conference that we would attempt to encourage the whole school to arrive one morning in just 15 cars.

Since then, Class 3 have worked with Sue Mountjoy from the Travel Plan team to design leaflets for our Car Share Challenge on Wednesday 22nd October. Elements of the six best leaflets were amalgamated into the final version shown below:
The car share day was a real success. The whole school arrived in just 13 cars whereas normally 28 cars are used. Children (and staff) were encouraged to decorate hats in the spirit of Car Share Day and they were welcomed at school by a breakfast of apple juice and apple muffins made from produce of the village orchard. They also had sausages and bacon from Devon Rose. The breakfast was funded by Devon County Council Travelwise. All the children took part in creating a piece of moving art to flutter in the wind during the special day.

As a result of the day a Car Share Register has been set up. For further details please ask at the school office.
