Class 1 Trip to Honiton

As part of Class One’s topic, ‘Street Detectives’ they went on a field trip to Honiton. The children enjoyed exploring Allhallows Museum of Lace and Antiquities where they learnt about the history of Honiton and its buildings as well as some of the local arts and crafts local to Honiton.  Some of the children got the opportunity to practise traditional lace making with one of the local experts. Next, they used their data handling skills to conduct a travel survey outside St.Paul’s church and then completed a street survey along the lace walk to find out the uses of different buildings in Honiton.

Following this trip, they represented their data collected from the travel and street survey as bar charts and were able to use it to compare the physical and human features of Honiton with Branscombe.
