Outstanding SIAMS Presentation

Outstanding SIAMS Presentation

We had a very special visitor join us for our School Eucharist Service in January. The Archdeacon of Exeter, the Ven Christopher Futcher, presented the school with its Outstanding Church School Inspection (SIAMS) certificate. It was lovely that he chose to actually present the award to our school Ethos Team. They had been involved in many of the areas that were commented on favourably in our report and it was super that he recognised their impact.

The children read The Lost Stories from Luke 15 and some verses from Psalm 118. The Archdeacon spoke about these, in particular the repeating verse 'His love endures forever', which he linked to our SIAMS report and the underlying centrality of love.

After his talk to the children, and the presentation of the certificate, the Archdeacon joined Hilary in leading the service and gave all the children a blessing.

Thank you to all the parents and parishioners who joined us for the service. The older Ethos Team members from Broadhembury also came to church with us. Following the success of our regular school Eucharists at Branscombe we are now going to develop a similar service at our partner school in Broadhembury. So the Broadhembury Ethos Team came to experience the liturgy that we use and learn about the symbolism. They have now helped the new vicar of Broadhembury, Rev. John Hayhoe, to talk to the rest of their class about what they learnt. They told the class that they thought the Branscombe service was very calm and peaceful.
