Branscombe Airfield

Class 1 visited Branscombe Airfield for their topic on Travelling and Moving. The children were hoping to further develop their understanding of aircraft and flying and prepared some questions to ask David Hayman.

Everyone had a chance to climb up onto the wing of a light aircraft and take a look in the cockpit. The children drew different parts of the plane and took their positions at the side of the runway to watch it take off and then land. They later visited the workshop where planes are repaired and serviced and viewed other aircraft in the hangar. In another workshop, they learned that covers for small aircraft and jet engines are designed and made at Branscombe Airfield.

The children found the visit fun and informative and had lots of ideas for the information books they have been making back at school.
