Class 1 National Trust November 2016

National Trust - 24th November

On Thursday 24th November, pupils in Class One enjoyed visiting the Forest School site and allotments with our friends from The National Trust who helped them to further their science enquiry surrounding habitats. After thinking about who might live amongst the trees or scurry through the lower vegetation and leaves they spent the morning looking for signs of life. Wrapped up in their warm coats, hats and gloves the children thought about how the local wildlife copes and survives in the winter, they learnt about hibernation. To lend a helping hand to some of our smaller friends they designed and made hedgehog homes in preparation for the colder months ahead. Using wood and screws the children built the shell of a shelter, they gathered leaves and straw to make a cosy bed for the hedgehogs to nestle into.
