Trip to Tiverton Museum

Class 2 Trip to Tiverton Museum

On Friday 15th September, the Key Stage 2 children from Branscombe and Farway schools travelled together to Tiverton museum for a special day of ‘hands-on’ learning linked to their current topic, ‘The Victorians’. In the morning, the children took part in a series of workshops: they attended a ‘Victorian’-style school, played with replica Victorian toys and examined some genuine Victorian toys and helped wash some sheets using Victorian equipment such as a washing dolly and a mangle. Later in the day, the children had the opportunity to explore the museum and find out more about life in Victorian times, including learning about Victorian home life and how the invention of railways changed life in Victorian Britain. The children particularly enjoyed their opportunity to role play on an actual steam engine!
