Orchard Planting

To celebrate the Millennium the school planted an orchard near to the mill. Many families from the village dedicated fruit trees to loved ones and there is a record of this in the school. Unfortunately, over the last decade, several of the trees have died. We have wanted to replace them for some time.

The school has recently been given a donation of ten apple trees from the Hastoe Housing Assocation’s ‘Hastoe Orchard Project’. With the help of The National Trust the children in class two planted the donated trees to replace the ones that had perished. They had a lovely morning in the orchard, learning new skills and working as teams. The tree varieties have been added to the original orchard plan and this, with photos of the morning, have been added to the original records.
