May Day Celebrations 2006

The school's May Day celebrations took place on Thursday 18th May. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side and so we had to hold the dancing inside the Village Hall. This year's May King was Albie and the May Queen was Anerie. Their attendants were Jake and Georgina from the Pre School. The parents of the King and Queen spent the morning decorating the May Day arch with beautiful fresh flowers.

We were very pleased to welcome Mrs Pat Britton back to the school to crown the May King and Queen. Mrs Britton retired as Headteacher in July 2005. The children presented her with some flowers and a School tea towel to thank her for attending.

All the children participated in dances around the May Pole. They all did very well, lovely patterns were created on the pole and there were no mistakes! Younger children who don't yet attend school also had a turn to dance around the May Pole with their parents, making the whole afternoon a real family celebration.
