May Day

Branscombe Pupils were brilliant hosts to our partner school for our May Day celebrations this year. Broadhembury pupils, staff and parents joined us for the day. In the morning Broadhembury pupils learnt some dances and then in the afternoon they performed them with Branscombe children.

The May Queen was Jessica and the May King was Bertie. They were crowned by Mr Andrew Hall from Branscombe and Powderham Forges. Andrew had made parts of the May Pole and the May Day arbour some years ago in the Branscombe Forge.

The arbour was beautifully decorated this year by Jessica’s father and Bertie’s mother using red, white and blue flowers to celebrate the jubilee and the formation of the Jubilee Federation.
